Pia Winberg

Pia has worked across both sustainable marine industry development and academia for the past 15 years; mostly in marine food production systems that are sustainably integrated within the coastal and marine environment. Her career has spanned both academic research and industry innovation in the fields of coastal and estuarine ecology, fisheries and sustainable aquaculture systems.

Pia’s core interest is the development of seaweed cultivation systems for Australia and the value of seaweed biomass to human food, health, biotechnology, animal health and agriculture. She believes Australia is well-placed to contribute to the value, quality and the future of BioMarine innovation from seaweed biomass, culture and quality control systems from production to processing.
